President & CEO, Caroline Ciocca, with wish kid Connor at the 2018 Walk For Wishes

A Message from Caroline Ciocca

Dear Make-A-Wish Family,

It is with a heavy heart I let you know that December 11, 2020, will be my last day with Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. After months of personal reflection, I am embarking on a new journey, content in knowing that the Make-A-Wish mission will continue because of the support of people like you. Nina Radetich will serve as Interim CEO, and our Board of Directors, supported by Make-A-Wish America, will start a national search for my replacement.

As I look back at my time with Make-A-Wish, I am filled with so much pride for what we have accomplished together. When I started in 2013, the chapter granted 79 wishes; this year, had it not been for COVID-19, that number would have more than doubled after five straight years of record-breaking growth. That growth was made possible in part by our development of The Wish Experience, our wish-granting blueprint that shows that there is so much that goes into granting a wish that matters greatly.

I loved to tell the story of the wish experience in front of its display at The Wishing Place. There’s something magical about stepping into The Wishing Place, a sanctuary that makes you feel like anything is possible.  When kids come here, they leave their worries at the door and dream BIG. I am so grateful to our friends at Allegiant for creating this space for our wish kids and can’t wait for when it’s safe for them to return. I will truly miss coming to this special place every day.

There are no words that can express how sincerely grateful I am to have had the privilege of leading this organization for the last seven years. Grateful for the donors who make our mission possible and the community partners that go above and beyond for our wish kids. Grateful for the wish families who allow us into their lives during their most difficult times and inspire us with their stories of hope and perseverance. And grateful for the culture of philanthropy displayed in every volunteer, board member, and employee committed to creating life-changing wishes for children in our community.

I have no doubt that this amazing team will continue to move this organization forward. The entire Southern Nevada team is truly the backbone of our chapter. They are smart, dedicated, and compassionate – by far, the best team I have ever worked with. I’m sad to leave them, but so proud of who they are and what they will continue to accomplish.

My time as President & CEO may be coming to an end, but I am honored to always be part of the Make-A-Wish family and support this chapter in any way I can in the future. Thank you for transforming my life, one wish at a time.

Sincerely,

Caroline
