Meet Lucas, a happy, energetic, and approachable six-year-old who is one of the happiest kiddos out there. He loves running, jumping, playing with toy cars and airplanes, and watching his favorite show, Paw Patrol. Though Lucas is autistic and has trouble expressing himself verbally, his infectious smile and cheerful personality bring joy to everyone around him.

The last year was incredibly difficult for Lucas. Already dealing with an upheaval of his normal routine at school due to COVID-19, Lucas and his family received more life-changing news: Lucas needed immediate treatment for an aggressive brain tumor. Lucas endured five rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, each requiring a hospital stay and then surgery on his hip due to a complication from treatment. Despite a tough year, Lucas’ spirit never faltered, and it was soon time for his heartfelt wish to come true.

Lucas loves playing outside, so he wished to have a backyard playground! His new backyard provides him with a safe space to let loose, climb, and slide whenever he wants. When he saw his new playground for the first time, Lucas ran as fast as he could to start playing, and he couldn’t stop smiling. Though Lucas may face more treatment in his future, his wish gave him a happy memory and a safe space to just be a kid.
