Kalvin's Wish
In August 2021 doctors found a cancerous tumor on the kidney of six-year-old Kalvin. The news was devastating for the family, as he was at increased risk of cancer due to a rare genetic condition, Beckwith-Wiederman syndrome, which causes him to grow faster than other kids.

Due to Kalvin's increased risk factors doctors acted quickly and over the next year he underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy, extended hospital stays, and even surgery to remove the tumor along with part of his kidney.
Throughout treatment Kalvin watched videos on YouTube of rollercoasters from theme parks around the world. His favorite ride to watch, the Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California.
“He would get so excited over those videos, like ‘I’m going to do this one day,’” his mother recalled.
The videos motivated him throughout his treatment. He would tell his mom regularly how he wanted to go to “The California Disney.” When he got his chemotherapy port removed, he reminded his mom that he could go on roller coasters again.
When it was time for Kalvin to share with the Make-A-Wish team what his wish would be, it was easy, he wanted to ride the Incredicoaster!
After a yearlong battle with cancer, we are proud to share that Kalvin is cancer free! Kalvin was thrown a surprise wish celebration announcing that he and his family were off to Disneyland to experience the thrill of riding the Incredicoaster. On his wish Kalvin was able to enjoy being a kid once again at the happiest place on earth.
