Supervises: Mission Delivery Manager, Mission Delivery Coordinator, program Interns and Volunteers

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Mission Delivery serves as a key member of the chapter’s leadership team by overseeing Wish Granting; Volunteer Services and Education; and Medical Outreach and Education.  Plans, coordinates, and implements strategies to develop wish granting programs, cash, and in-kind resources, expand referral sources and children served, and educate and engage volunteers and the public as needed to deepen affinity for Make-A-Wish throughout Mississippi.

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

WISH OVERSIGHT

  • Develop a clear direction and vision for the program department
  • Provide leadership, accountability, and mentoring to the members of the program team and wish granting volunteers
  • Implement mandatory wish granting policies and guidelines in line with Foundation approved procedures.  Regularly review ways to improve the wish granting process; make recommendations for new policies to the President and CEO.
  • Ensure team members have the tools necessary to excel in their positions and provide the best wish experience to our wish families and volunteers
  • Responsible for all wish approvals, scheduling and budgeting in accordance with Foundation Policies and Guidelines
  • Analyzes the wish pipeline (from referral to wish closed) to determine the timeliness of each step to ensure wishes are moving through the system according to Chapter goals and National benchmarks
  • Handles a caseload of high publicity/time sensitive wishes to support wish team efficiency
  • Create and implement formal medical outreach plan to provide education about eligibility and cultivate medical professional relationships as staff liaison with local Medical Advisors
  • Act as primary contact for leveraging national partnerships and in-kind donations to limit cash costs of wishes
  • Identify and resolve any program related issues affecting wish children, their families, and the Foundation, notifying the CEO and other appropriate staff when necessary
  • Determine which staff member will coordinate wishes based on workload and timing
  • Maintain wish information according to Foundation Standards of Use Salesforce as wish planning and progression occurs
  • Schedule and share in the chapter’s responsibility to provide a 24-hour emergency contact for all Mississippi wish families ensuring exceptional customer service in the event of an after-hours issue

 

VOLUNTEER OVERSIGHT

  • Design volunteer roles
  • Maintain constituent records and application files per Foundation requirements
  • Develop volunteer communications for continued education, retention, and appreciation
  • Improve wish quality by encouraging volunteers to be creative, thoughtful, timely, and to leverage in-kind donations

 

MISSION REPRESENTATION TO CHAPTER LEADERSHIP

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to design, implement, and review internal processes to meet or exceed national benchmarks
  • Assist development team in fundraising efforts providing wish related content for media and marketing materials and wish reveals
  • Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality for families being served by the Foundation
  • Provide input in the creation of the annual budget regarding the program services portion and see that the chapter adheres to approved fiscal budget
  • Help in the development then implementation of the chapter’s long-term strategic initiatives
  • Implement all Make-A-Wish America performance standards and Make-A-Wish Mississippi internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Attend chapter events as needed in support of the Foundation’s mission
  • Produce reports and share program information as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS required
  • Related professional experience of 5 years with at least 2 of those managing non-profit programs
  • Demonstrated ability in clear and effective oral and written communications with exceptional attention to details
  • Demonstrated experience in team management with strong organizational skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in computer programs including standard office programs, including Salesforce
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to display expertise in managing programs, volunteer education and management, and fiscal management
  • Sincere commitment, ability, and adaptability to work collaboratively and build relationships with diverse constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, wish children and their families, vendors, and other supporters
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion, and humor necessary to address the practicalities of a growing nonprofit, along with the creativity and persistence required to elicit new thinking and change
  • Demonstrated innovative, managing, and organizing agile work profiles preferred
