Summary

Responsible for strategic planning and execution of all fundraising and events associated with fundraising for the chapter

Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Develops strategy and implements plans for donor identification and qualification, research, donor plan development, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations
  • Works with the development team, CEO, and COO to develop the annual development budget
  • Works with Development Associate to conduct all aspects of donor administration, ensuring accurate maintenance of all donor records in Raisers Edge database
  • Works closely with Wish Team to create and manage the wish sponsor process and develop in-kind resources
  • Prepares regularly scheduled or special reports accurately and efficiently so the CEO maintains a pulse on fundraising progress
  • Works closely with CEO regarding the development of Board members’ Major Gifts/Annual Appeal
  • Oversees a major gifts program (gifts of $5,000+), including leveraging existing donors, identifying new prospects, and stewarding supporters
  • Ensures excellence in relationship management. Works with the CEO and individual Board members (as appropriate) to best cultivate relationships
  • Works with Development Team to identify additional fundraising streams including, but not limited to, monthly donor program, mid-level donor program, planned giving, grants, and endowments

Events

  • Actively participates in all local internal events and represents the Chapter at special events and public speaking engagements, as requested by the CEO
  • Networks with the community to increase awareness for our mission and for our need for financial and in-kind support
  • Launches an annual appeal to further develop a culture among donors of annual and multi-year giving; unify fundraising activities with a theme, strategy, and an implementation plan
  • Works with team to create and execute annual event strategy, including (but not limited to) three premiere fundraising events: Walk For Wishes, Trailblaze Challenge, and Fashion Luncheon

Leadership

  • Provides strategic direction to and implementation of the Chapter’s fundraising efforts.
  • Develops and maintains a consistent process to manage donor cultivation and stewardship efforts
  • Maintains a donor-centric culture of philanthropy in Chapter’s programs and communications
  • Designs, implements, and oversees a donor recognition and retention plan for the Chapter
  • Works with Community and Corporate Director to build a diversified corporate funding program including multi-year approaches, workplace giving, and matching gifts
  • Leads, manages, and holds accountable the development directors, participating in their growth & development including performance reviews and coaching
  • Provides collaborative leadership on the management team by representing the development department’s initiatives, goals, and progress
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent executive-level fundraising/sales experience required
  • Minimum 7 years strong, comprehensive staff or volunteer management experience including annual reviews, staff development, hiring, and disciplinary action
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Database/data-entry/customer relationship management required; Raiser Edge knowledge ideal, but not required
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality
  • Ability to respond to rapidly changing situations and urgent deadlines
  • Must be self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and excel in problem-solving skills
  • Ability to connect with people and engage others in the mission of the organization
