Henry was diagnosed with Stage 3 Neuroblastoma on his first birthday. His doctor became suspicious of a mass or possibly swelling in his spleen at his well child physical. From there her had many tests, a large tumor was found, and his cancer was confirmed. He went through five rounds of chemotherapy, a nine hour tumor resection surgery, followed by a major stomach surgery and many complications. He is now five and a half years cancer free. He still deals with some residual issues from all he experienced, but we are thankful he is a thriving, happy pediatric cancer survivor.

Henry's oncologist told us we should apply for Make-A-Wish while he was recovering from his surgeries in the fall of 2015. At first we did not think that we would qualify for a wish because after his scan in October 2015, there was no evidence of disease, and we initially thought that Make-A-Wish was reserved only for terminally ill children. We were told that this was a common misconception, and were approved for a wish shortly after. Our wish grantors came to our house and were so wonderful in talking things through with us. They wanted it to not only be special for Henry, but for his brothers, too.
