His wish gave his family the gift of one more experience together, allowing them to create a memory they will never forget.
5-year-old Veer knew exactly what he wanted his wish to be. He had recently watched his older sister graduate from high school, and he thought it was the COOLEST experience in the world. He wanted his very own special day to walk across a stage in a cap and gown and receive a diploma. Sadly, because of his illness, he wasn’t able to attend kindergarten with his friends. To make his wish come true quickly, we had to get creative.
Thanks to volunteers and an entire community of supporters, Veer’s wish came to life in less than 72 hours. On his graduation day, over 100 people gathered around Veer and his family to celebrate his big accomplishment. From teachers to friends to his hospice team and nurses to Make-A-Wish Georgia staff and board members, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as Veer walked across the stage. After the ceremony, he released balloons and threw his cap in the air with a victory cheer. He was officially a kindergarten graduate! His wish came true.
Sadly, Veer passed away soon after his wish. His light will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his family will forever cherish the joy his wish brought.
The help of our community made Veer’s wish possible, giving him the gift of celebrating an achievement with his friends and family. Veer’s story is proof that a wish can bring joy even in the darkest of times.
