31 Wishes Granted in August Caps Off a Year of Impact Across South Carolina
August marked the close of Summer of Wishes and the end of another remarkable fiscal year at Make-A-Wish South Carolina.
During the month, we granted 31 wishes, bringing our fiscal-year total to 247 wishes granted for children with critical illnesses across South Carolina.
Before summer came to a close, wish kids traded hospital rooms, appointments and treatment schedules for adventures built around the things they love most.
Four-year-old Ford headed to Monster Jam to meet his favorite driver. Seventeen-year-old Antonio experienced the excitement of Walt Disney World®. Logan explored New York City alongside her family after years of putting vacations and special outings on hold.
Their wishes looked very different, but they shared something powerful in common: each one created an opportunity for a child with a critical illness to focus on joy, connection and possibility.
For Logan's family, the trip felt like a celebration. For Ford's family, it meant seeing his face light up after countless hospital visits. For Antonio's mom, the experience showed her son that his circumstances do not determine what he can enjoy or accomplish.
Those moments are why wishes matter. They give families time together, create lasting memories and provide hope during some of life's most difficult chapters.
“This trip was like a family celebration. She was able to experience something new and celebrate after going through so much."
