Make-A-Wish Nevada is seeking a dedicated Wish Manager to help bring life-changing wishes to life for children with critical illnesses. You'll play a vital role in managing our wish pipeline, coordinating special wish experiences, and ensuring every wish creates unforgettable memories for our wish families.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and minimum two years’ leadership or wish planning experience required
  • Strong ability to inspire, lead, and engage others in the mission
  • Event planning skills a plus
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written English skills (Bilingual Spanish a plus, but not required)
  • High attention to detail and ability to audit compliance to standards
  • Must be computer & tech savvy, with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and have a high level of comfort with online software
  • Database/data-entry/customer relationship experience required; Salesforce knowledge preferred, but not required
  • Ability to respond to rapidly changing situations and tight deadlines
  • Must be self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and problem-solve
  • Comfortable working with a variety of personalities
  • Ability to speak comfortably in front of groups
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information with high confidentiality

Work Environment

  • The job operates in a professional, open-space office environment using standard office equipment
  • Work from home capability once per week after the first 30 days
  • There is a high probability of glitter encroachment on personal items at your workstation
  • Working knowledge of Connect 4, Candyland, and Chutes and Ladders required

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties

Wish Pipeline Management

  • Be bold, brave, and committed to discovering eligible wish kids’ one true wish and making it come true
  • Oversee pipeline of all wishes (local and wish assists) by thoroughly tracking the progress of each wish
  • Consistently implement national and local wish-granting policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures to ensure consistent wish-granting quality
  • Execute approximately 5-10% of the fiscal year’s budgeted wishes, taking ownership of high cost, high complexity wishes to ensure seamless execution while staying within policy and budgetary restraints
  • Manage and maintain Wishes Scheduled Calendar for weekly reporting on status towards wish goals
  • Ability to manage hundreds of simultaneous projects (wishes), meet deadlines, and prioritize efforts
  • Provide after-hours wish emergency assistance when required, including credit card troubleshooting
  • Assist with identifying and resolving situations affecting wishes and inform Director of Mission Delivery & Operations as necessary
  • Approve and review individual wish budgets and monitor variances to ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Maintain appropriate wish family merchandise stock and replenish when necessary according to available budget

Wish Assists

  • Execute celebrity/sporting/special event wish assists (wishes granted in-territory from other chapters)
  • Utilize volunteer management system to engage our community for wish-granting support including Wish Discovery, Designer, and Expert types as well as Airport Greeters and Celebrity Hosts
  • Liaise with Make-A-Wish America’s Entertainment & Sports Relations team to provide local knowledge and expertise

Marketing & Development Liaison

  • In partnership with Development team, coordinate publicity, corporate reveals, and Adopt-A-Wish opportunities with donor partners to engage our community

Lead, Manage & Hold Direct Reports Accountable

  • Provide oversight to the department to ensure consistent alignment of communication and program goals
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable Wish Coordinators including quarterly reviews
  • Assist leadership in executing emergency wish procedures and crisis response plan
  • Approve wish concepts and assign wishes to appropriate staff and manage assigned caseload
  • Maintain a culture of philanthropy in wish-granting and outreach, emphasizing donor engagement in wishes

Budget/Forecast Oversight

  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and maintain annual departmental budgets, providing detailed analysis and recommendations for resource allocation
  • Partners with management on quarterly and annual goal-setting initiatives, contributing to strategic forecasting and target-setting processes

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; on occasion, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift, up to 25 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
