Eight-year-old Ma’Leiah fully embraces her special heart. The little girl has a scar from the heart transplant she received as an infant, and while she doesn’t remember the transplant taking place, she has become accustomed to the regular checkups and blood draws that come along with such a significant surgery.

Today, Ma’Leiah lives a very active lifestyle and enjoys anything outdoors – from swimming and dancing to freeze tag. She also enjoys watching Tik Tok and all things Disney. When she learned she was eligible for a heartfelt wish, Ma’Leiah wanted to explore the most magical place on earth, Walt Disney World, with her family.

Ma’Leiah is a natural storyteller who gives long, thoughtful answers to the simplest of questions. When asked what she was most looking forward to at Disney, Ma’Leiah drew her answer (see the drawing below!). She included everything from meeting her favorite characters with her cousin and grandma, to riding a rollercoaster so that she could “feel her heart go fast.”

The family had the trip of a lifetime. Ma’Leiah’s favorite part was their trip to Sesame Street at Universal Studios. She has always loved Elmo, so seeing him in person was a huge moment for her.

Her mom, Andrea, said that Ma’Leiah didn’t want the trip to end. “Thank you for everything,” she said. “We are forever grateful to you all.”
