Rusha's wish to experience paradise with her family

Rusha has had her fair share of health struggles and diagnoses throughout her medical journey. She has beaten the odds of her chromosomal disorder and her family considers her a miracle. She was born premature and spent a few days in the NICU until doctors cleared her to be released. At the time, she didn’t show signs of her genetic disorder, however, at 3 years old, her motor skills were notably lacking and she was experiencing vision impairment. She has been closely monitored and has undergone various surgeries since then. Today, she battles a culmination of issues that impact her heart, brain, spinal cord, hips, thyroid and skin. Nonetheless, her family says she always manages to face these struggles with strength and a positive attitude.

Rusha’s family and friends describe her as thoughtful, sensitive, empathetic, and loving. She is bright and always leads with her curiosity when it comes to her studies. Her sense of humor is infectious, and she easily lights up a room.

When Rusha had her wish discovery visit, it was clear that she was excited to travel! Her heart was ultimately set on wishing to go to Hawaii. She lit up with joy as she shared her love for the beach, warm sand, and swimming in the crystal blue waters. Rusha was so excited at the thought of trading in hospital visits for creating memories with her family on island time.

Rusha hugs her mom and dad after being surprised that her most heartfelt wish to go to Hawaii is coming true.

One seemingly normal day, Rusha was watching her morning news when suddenly a surprise came: her favorite news reporters showed up to surprise her & tell her that her wish to go to Hawaii was coming true! Watch this video from CBS13 who was there!

Rusha’s trip to Hawaii was her first time visiting paradise and allowed her to reclaim a piece of her childhood. She was thrilled to share her wish experience with her family who have given her an immense amount of love and support during her health journey.

GoodDay Sacramento Reporter Molly interviews Rusha at her airport sendoff to her wish

Rusha and her family always watch Good Day Sacramento everyday. It was a big joy when Good Day Sac joined the excitement of Rusha's wish, where reporter Molly surprised Rusha twice: once to reveal that her wish was coming true, and again at the airport to send her off onto her wish!
