Wyatt's Spree a Journey

Wyatt’s Make-A-Wish Northeast New York shopping wish was less of a spree and more of an ultra-marathon — covering more than 100 miles round trip starting at his Lake Luzerne home and spanning the length of the Northway south, with a lot of stops in between.

The 16-year-old’s first destination was the Cricket Wireless store in nearby Queensbury, where employees literally rolled out the red carpet for the teen. There, Wyatt and wish mom Charlotte got phones and service, and Wyatt also received bags and bags of accessories and other swag.

“We are very honored to be a part of Wyatt’s wish,” said Gregory Deolall, an indirect sales executive for Cricket Wireless who greeted the family. “We wanted to make it something special and amazing for him.”

Other stops on Wyatt’s spree included Walmart, Scott’s Hallmark Shop, PetSmart, Michael’s, Best Buy, GameStop, the Lego Store, the Disney Store, FYE, Build-A-Bear Workshop, and dining at Dunkin’ and Olive Garden.

Zach Ogden and Maura Fox served as the wish granters, assisted by Laura Mazzara, a wish granter and member of the chapter’s Board of Trustees.

In addition to his brother, Paul, and his mom, Wyatt was accompanied on his wish by his Build-A-Bear, Daisy — a longtime companion who has been by his side providing comfort throughout treatments.

Wish mom Charlotte said this wish provided another type of comfort as her son battles leukemia.

“This day brings up Wyatt’s spirits,” the mom said. “This shopping spree has lifted up his spirits. It makes him feel so good to get out today.”

Wyatt's wish was sponsored by the Neighbors of Beekman 1802.
