Destiny is extremely close with her cousins. She would visit with them every Friday night, right up until they moved to Texas in June of 2021.
Two weeks later, Destiny got sick, and would be diagnosed with a blood disorder.
“I did not catch a break,” the teen said.
For her Make-A-Wish Northeast New York wish, Destiny wished to visit her cousins in Sugarland, Texas. Wish mom Kasey said the trip “timed out really well,” and served as a celebration, since Destiny had just completed her medication treatment following a bone marrow transplant.
On her wish, Destiny and her family went to restaurants, museums and shopping, as well as experienced indoor skydiving and horseback riding. “I feel like we did a month’s worth of activities in five days,” mom said.
But most prized was the time spent with the cousins.
“It’s something I wanted to do since they moved,” Destiny said of her trip. “It was really exciting, since we had something to do every day.”
But Destiny’s best memory? “Staying up until 3 a.m., laughing at nothing with my cousins.”
