Jason Benitez of the Capital Region Chamber is elected to the chapter's Board of Trustees.
The Make-A-Wish Northeast New York Board of Trustees has elected Jason Benitez as its newest member.
Benitez is vice president, Talent and Inclusion, for the Capital Region Chamber. He is responsible for strategic direction, guidance and implementation of the Chamber’s talent and workforce development, as well as its inclusion and diversity initiatives.
“I’m thrilled to be associated with a great organization such as Make-A-Wish,” Benitez said. “It is my hope I can bring a lens for diversity, equity and inclusion that builds upon all the good Make-A-Wish Northeast New York does in our region. That includes finding new, creative ways to better connect our important mission to a wider array of communities.”
Previously, Benitez served as the associate dean/director for Diversity and Inclusion at Union College, where he helped implement strategies to enhance equity practices across the college campus.
“We are excited for what Jason brings to the Board, particularly with respect to advancing our own diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives,” said William C. Trigg, III, CEO of Make-A-Wish Northeast New York. “His experience, insights and perspective will enrich the chapter and the wish experience for our children and families.”
Benitez becomes the 20th member of the all-volunteer Board.
Benitez received both his bachelor’s degree in sociology and master’s degree in higher education administration from the University at Albany. He resides in Slingerlands with his wife and two children.
