Benny's wish to go to space camp

When Benny was 10 years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia. He endured 4 rounds of chemotherapy, various bone marrow biopsies, several bacterial infections, a tube in his chest and countless tests and MRIs. To say Benny is brave is an understatement.

"As soon as we found out about Benny’s diagnosis, he started treatment that day,” said Benny’s Mom Angela. “Never once did he get down on himself or negative throughout his treatment. He was positive and easy-going and cheerful the whole time."

When he started having conversations with Make-A-Wish, Benny knew space camp was his one true wish. What started out as a dream, turned into a reality for his whole family. Benny always had a passion for space.

“My wish was so cool,” said Benny. “I will never forget being able to go to space camp with my siblings and parents. I was able to make rockets, be a space commander and go on several missions. This wish helped bring my family closer together.”

Benny’s mom Angela knew this wish experience had the ability to be powerful for his whole family.

“This wish was a really nice way to be able to let go of everything we’ve been through,” said Angela. “While Benny was going through his treatment, our family was going through the same uncertainty. We were able to do something together and be stress-free at the end of this terrible journey.”

Benny is in remission today and is grateful for how his wish experience brought his whole family joy.
