Oona's Wish for a Fenced-In Backyard

Oona is a 3-year-old girl who was born with a hole in her diaphragm, causing frequent hospitalizations and additional medical complications. “She’s a fighter,” her father, Nick, said. “She’s a real treasure, and she is by far the happiest kid I’ve ever seen. To watch her journey has actually been so inspiring to our lives, we’ve changed the way we look at our lives because of the way Oona just effortlessly cares about everything.”

With Oona’s happy nature, she loves to play and explore.

However, she and her family live in the middle of a fork in the road with a large drop-off that opens up to a pond, which means Oona isn’t able to safely play outside. Therefore, her family decided that fencing in the backyard would be most beneficial to Oona and allow her a space to play like other kids her age.

Since Oona absolutely adores Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, the team also worked to bring a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme to the fenced in backyard space with a playhouse and a custom play table.

Before the wish party, Oona was surprised by all of her family and friends driving by in a Mickey Mouse themed car parade just for her! The parade included roughly 30 vehicles, some of them police cars and fire trucks. Oona was happy as can be, wearing Minnie Mouse ears on her head as she enjoyed the special day.

Oona and her family now have a space to play together, and a day with friends and family that they will never forget.
