Natalie's wish to go to a black sand beach in Hawaii
In Summer of 2024, Make-A-Wish Maine celebrated our 1,900th wish with Natalie's wish to go to a black sand beach in Hawaii!
“My favorite part [of Natalie’s wish] was the constant smile on her face,” says wish mom Katie.
“Natalie thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling. She was so excited to see animals in the ocean she had never seen before.”
To make it even more exciting, Natalie not only has the honor of being our 1,900th wish granted in Maine, but she was also the record-breaking 89th wish of the year! This was the most wishes ever granted in a single year in Maine.
“When critical illness turns joy-filled years of childhood upside down, Make-A-Wish is there to remind the child, family and entire community that better days are ahead,” says Sonya Purington, Director of Mission Delivery. “The hope that accompanies a wish helps children feel better, both physically and emotionally, and we're happy to have had the opportunity to work alongside supporters and volunteers to grant 1,900 life-changing wishes to children when needed most.”
Natalie’s family had an incredible time exploring Hawaii and celebrating her wish.
