Lainey's Wish to go to Princess Week
Five-year-old Lainey loves Disney Princesses! Her wish to go to Walt Disney World was made extra special as she got to attend the first-ever Disney Princess Week. She even got to attend the Princess Ball!
In September of 2022, Lainey was diagnosed with a neurologic condition that causes acute onset paralysis.
Lainey has a custom wheelchair that she uses to get around and is extremely heavy. It was important that Lainey have this wheelchair on her wish, as she is the most comfortable with it and it would enable her to have the best possible experience.
“Make-A-Wish was incredibly accommodating when it came to her medical needs,” says wish mom Bethany.
Fortunately, with a bit of wish magic, we were able to get the wheelchair to the airport while also allowing Lainey and her family to ride in style via a limo!
“The timing of [the wish] was really special for us in a lot of ways, because it was just a week before the one-year anniversary of when she got diagnosed,” says Brian.
As the first-ever Princess Week, Lainey had a special experience. She got to see so many princesses and spend an event with many other wish kids from all around the country.
“I didn’t even watch the stage [during the Princess Ball]…I just turned around and watched [Lainey]. It was pretty priceless,” recounts Brian.
As a part of the event, Lainey got to meet some of the princesses and even watch a fireworks show with them! It was a special event for her and her sister and has created memories they won’t forget.
[Lainey’s wish] just turned a really, really difficult year…into something so special.
