Grayson's Wish to have a Pop-up Camper

Grayson is a four-year-old boy who was diagnosed with B-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was just 22 months old.

Although Grayson has been in remission since November 2018, he is still going through chemotherapy treatment today. Every 28 days, he goes in for his monthly dosage. He will continue this treatment until November 2021. Even though Grayson has undergone so much, his mother, Whitney, says that he is extremely positive. Through all the hardships that this family has faced, Whitney says that it has made them appreciate life more and enjoy the little things.

The Make-A-Wish Maine team had been in contact with this family for a while as the wish-granting process unfolded. When the time came for Grayson to decide what his wish would be, he had a very specific idea of what he wanted. Grayson is a huge fan of the show Peppa Pig and wanted to have a “camper van” like the one on TV!

Make-A-Wish threw Grayson a surprise Paw Patrol-themed party at the beach while his wish granters set up his camper at his house. Inside the camper were passes for various Maine campgrounds. His mother says that his wish was perfect for their family because they really wanted to explore and get outdoors. Whitney added that Grayson was so in love with his camper that he wanted to stay in there often.

Although COVID-19 has presented challenges for this family, Whitney says that it was really a “blessing in disguise.” They got to spend quality time together and enjoy the outdoors more than usual. Grayson’s wish gave this family an opportunity to do what they love. Grayson and his parents have enjoyed their camper so much and are very appreciative of Make-A-Wish Maine. They would like to extend a special thank you to VIP Tires and the wish granters for making Grayson’s dream possible!
