Alexis' Wish to Renovate her Softball Field

Alexis is a seventeen-year-old athlete and cancer survivor from Manchester, Maine. When it came to make her wish, Alexis had something very different in mind. She wished to renovate her school’s softball field for use and enjoyment by her team today and in years to come. Softball is important to her family, her oldest sister played as does her twin sister.

“We have granted a handful of altruistic wishes that are driven by the desire to give back. We’re thoroughly impressed with Alexis’ vision to selflessly give her wish to her team and community,” says Kate Vickery, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Maine.

Alexis’ priorities when it came to her wish were a new scoreboard, new jerseys and bags for the team (that she got to design!) and renovating the dugouts.

At the Make-A-Wish Maine 30th Anniversary Gala, Alexis learned her wish would come true and the new scoreboard was revealed. Over the coming weeks, more renovations were made until her wish day!

Alexis arrived at the softball field via limousine where family and friends welcomed her for a ribbon cutting and inaugural scoreboard lighting.
