Make-A-Wish Iowa revealed a surprise Disney trip for 4-year-old Mason during his "golden birthday" after he entered remission from leukemia. What started as a birthday party turned into a life-changing surprise for 4-year-old Mason Cappaert on Saturday, Oct. 4.

While two rosters filled with Iowa and Iowa State football student-athletes competed against each other at the Legion Field softball complex Sunday afternoon, both sides were aligned on the same side with one common goal. The day's objective was to raise as much money as possible for children battling illnesses. The annual Wishes on Deck charity softball event accomplished that goal, as more than $150,000 was raised through the 2025 event, hosted in Iowa Falls.
