Hunter's wish for a shopping spree

Make-A-Wish Iowa helped him smile

Hunter was 14 years old when he was diagnosed with Early T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia/Lymphoma in December 2019. After his diagnosis, he was immediately admitted to the ICU for dialysis. Hunter and his family's new reality became spending their days on the oncology floor of the ICU.

Over the past year, Hunter underwent several cancer treatments. The treatments were taxing and damaging on his body as he was allergic to certain chemotherapies. Complications included damage to his legs, which sent Hunter to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for a bone marrow transplant. Hunter is now battling Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks its own nerves. But his parents are thankful he is alive.

Hunter is currently in the process of having his wish granted, and is excited about his upcoming shopping spree. “Make-A-Wish Iowa helped him smile, knowing a huge gift was coming.” Dawn, Hunter’s mom shared.

“Thank you, Make-A-Wish Iowa,” Dawn expressed. “Wish kids deserve this luxurious treatment for everything they go through!”
