(DES MOINES, Iowa) March 21, 2023 — A new face will join the Make-A-Wish Iowa leadership team in April 2023.
Greg Bellville, an experienced social services and nonprofit leader, has been hired as the new Make-A-Wish Iowa Director of Mission. He most recently led Prevent Child Abuse Iowa as their executive director and brings with him more than 15 years of experience to his new role.
The Director of Mission is responsible for the successful implementation and oversight of the overall wish granting process, as established by Make-A-Wish America and the Iowa chapter. Bellville joins Sara Kurovski, president and CEO, along with Natalie Brecht, Chelsea Koenig, Carol TeBockhorst and Terry Gallagher on the organization’s leadership team. In his role, he will oversee personnel in wish granting; volunteer services and education; and medical outreach, referral and education. Supporting the organization’s mission with strategic leadership through the entire wish referral, granting and closing process will also be a key part of his duties.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Bellville to the Make-A-Wish Iowa team,” said Kurovski. “His career has spanned leadership positions with social service organizations that will serve to inform the ways we can continue to garner support across Iowa. With more than 350 critically ill children waiting for their wishes to come true, it’s never been more important to have the right people leading this charge for Make-A-Wish.”
Bellville’s career experiences fuse together a true focus on a child’s health and well-being. At Prevent Child Abuse Iowa, Bellville’s most recent work as executive director included overseeing the organizational financial management, delivery of a strategic plan and development of new partnerships to increase service delivery in Iowa and three additional states. Previous to that role, he was the deputy director (2017-19) and clinical director (2014-17) for Bridges of Iowa and St. Gregory Retreat Centers, where he played instrumental roles in creating and implementing an organizational quality assurance program in compliance with Iowa Department of Public Health and CARF licensing and accreditation standards.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Truman State University in Missouri and a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Illinois. He has earned certifications in Lead/Six Sigma Green Belt, as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor through the Iowa Board of Certification and as an Eagle Scout. Bellville has extensive board and committee involvement throughout the state of Iowa, focused on child and family well-being.
“It’s an exciting time to join the Make-A-Wish Iowa momentum and connect children with their wishes,” said Bellville. “As the new Director of Mission, I want to ensure every Iowan knows how they can make a difference in the lives of the children and families within their own communities who are deserving of wishes, and really, a fighting chance against their illness.”
