Make-A-Wish Iowa receives Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Nomination

URBANDALE, Iowa — Make-A-Wish® Iowa is honored to be nominated for a 2022 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Award in the category Documentary – Topical for “Evan’s Make-A-Wish Story.” This year’s nominees were announced on Friday, Sept. 2, and the awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Radisson Blu in Bloomington, Minnesota. This is the 23rd annual event for the Upper Midwest Chapter.

“We’re truly humbled that ‘Evan’s Make-A-Wish Story’ was nominated for a Regional Emmy Award,” said Sara Kurovski, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Iowa. “The nomination itself is amazing, but the fact that Evan’s story has resonated with audiences beyond our organization is simply touching. He’s the true nominee.”

Make-A-Wish Iowa partnered with Trilix — a full-service marketing agency headquartered in downtown Des Moines — to produce the documentary, which was released at Make-A-Wish Iowa’s annual gala earlier this year. The event brought in a record-setting $460,000 to support life-changing wishes for Iowa’s children fighting critical illness.

“Evan’s wish was to go to Walt Disney World® Resort, and we’re grateful that his family turned to Make-A-Wish Iowa and our amazing donor network to make his wish come true,” said Kurovski. “His enthusiasm, energy and passion for life lives on through his family and friends, and now through this documentary. He was and still is an inspiration to us all, and we look forward to sharing his story with the rest of the world.”

The Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Awards focus on excellence in video and television, in which the entrants are judged on a “Standard of Excellence” based on three main criteria: content, creativity and execution. According to their website, “The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is a membership organization dedicated to excellence in video and television by honoring exceptional work, past and present; providing professional development and outreach; and nurturing the next generation of television professionals.”
