Rowan's wish to go to Legoland

On the week of his 6th birthday, Rowan was diagnosed with Burkitts Leukemia. The family had the fight of their lives ahead.
"Between 3-hour one-way back and forth trips to treatment and the constant hospital stays, it was so difficult to think of anything positive when days got too hard," says Melissa, Rowan's mom.
Legos were a big part of Rowan's treatment as he battled cancer. He and his parents put together a new Lego set during each treatment. It is what kept him going.
When Make-A-Wish met with Rowan, he told us immediately what he wanted to wish for, "doing all things Lego! Staying in a Lego hotel, making Legos, riding all the rides. All LEGO!"

A wish comes true
In March, our coastal wish community came together at our WishMaker's Gala in Wilmington and helped us surprise Rowan with an exciting wish trip to Legoland! As Rowan stepped on the stage a video played from the incredible team at Legoland sharing a very special message:
"Rowan, your wish has been granted! You and your Mom and Dad and your little brother Deslin are coming here to Legoland Florida in only 8 days! We are super excited and can’t wait to see you…and we have some special things planned just for you!"
"Building Lego's was an outlet for Rowan during all of his treatments," said Melissa "so having his wish granted to go to Legoland certainly came full circle! It was a treasured memory our family will never forget. It also gives us something positive to think about when thinking of the ongoing trauma associated with childhood cancer."
