Harrison's wish to make a wish in a volcano
“It’s mesmerizing. Make-A-Wish loves me.”

Harrison has faced multiple challenges as he’s learned to navigate his difficult nervous system disorder. Through it all he has never lost his smile and his excitement for life! When Harrison was introduced to Make-A-Wish he knew right away what he would wish for and he said something as unique and special as him… “I want to make a wish in a volcano!”
Harrison and his family thought carefully about the perfect volcanic destination and decided it would be Hawaii. Their excitement built as they thought about the activities and adventures they hoped to experience while the team at Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina went to work planning. The time came to share with Harrison that his wish was coming true and, as the family gathered for what they thought would be a private dinner at our partner Maggiano’s, they were greeted with tropical decorations, a custom menu, and the smiles of their excited wish team ready to announce “Harrison, your wish is coming true!”

“I have never seen him so excited for something!” his mom Sarah shared. The family was off on an epic Hawaiian adventure! Looking at the view outside his hotel room for the first time, Harrison said “It’s mesmerizing. Make-A-Wish loves me.” What better way to begin a week of exploring on this once in a lifetime trip!
Throughout the week the family enjoyed time together swimming with dolphins and snorkeling in the crystal-clear water, taking surf lessons, going on a private coffee tour, walking on lava rocks and black sand beaches and, the moment everyone was waiting for, climbing to the top of a volcano to make a wish!
As he reached the top and took in the view of the volcanic rock and endless sky, Harrison took a moment for himself to take it all in. He turned and faced the smokey background saying to his mom “I can’t believe this is actually happening! I guess I’m going to start wishing for something?” He turned, faced the volcano, bowed his head and thought very carefully about what his wish would be. When ready, he threw his arms open and released his wish into the volcano as tears filled his eyes.
“Make-A-Wish is providing miracle wishes. We are in awe and wonder at what they’ve offered Harrison. He’s cried pure joy at least twice every day. It means that much. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina and our wish Granter, Alina. We will forever remember each and every second of this. ❤️🌊” - wish mom, Sarah.
