I want to take this time to thank Make-A-Wish and everyone who helped to give my son Demetrics his dream come true. Demetrics was born with a complicated nervous system disorder that began in infancy with multiple medical conditions.  His path hasn’t always been easy but throughout that we have found strength and joy through our faith and enjoying the everyday blessings we see. We always treasure every minute and every second of our time together.

Since he was a little baby, Demetrics has always loved Mickey Mouse. We knew that being able to meet Mickey Mouse in person would be a dream come true, a true blessing.  Our family traveled to Give Kids The World Village and immediately knew it was a very wonderful, magical, special place to stay. We truly loved and enjoyed every special moment! We felt cared for and loved by the staff, from the food to each activity and ride to the games and parties. The parties were one of our favorite parts! We celebrated with a Halloween party, Mayor Clayton’s birthday party, a winter wonderland and more!

The care they put into making sure every family has their needs met was so special to us. Demetrics has special needs and can’t always do everything but Give Kids The World made it possible. The pool was handicap accessible so a child in wheelchair, like Demetrics, can easily get into the pool and enjoy. And making it even more special, they held movie nights by the pool on a movie screen! We love movies! And the swing, train ride, and helicopter also were all handicap accessible making it welcome for handicapped children to get on – that is truly a blessing. The village is so beautiful, it felt like a home away from home, we loved it.

On our trip we got to visit every park, again finding things handicap accessible making it so fun! We got a chance to ride the water boat taxis. We had never ridden in a boat, so it was amazing! We loved Disney’s Hollywood Studios and had a blast getting on all the fun rides. Demetrics got to meet all his favorite characters – some of his favorites were Toy Story, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Minnie Mouse, and his absolute FAVORITE Mickey Mouse! Demetrics loved it! He was in shock when he saw Mickey and he just kept smiling. We even got to ride Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway - Demetrics really loved that.

Another thing we really enjoyed was getting to go to so many different parks. We got to visit Sesame Place and Universal Studios – another place Demetrics really loved. He met so many of his favorite characters he watches at home. SpongeBob and Patrick and Cookie Monster spent so much time with us! We love animals and got to see so many we have never seen before. We saw dolphins and sea gulls at Sea World, and elephants, giraffes, and lions in Animal Kingdom. This time together was really fun and just wonderful to be together, we enjoyed everything...every second. We are truly blessed with all we saw and experienced. Thank you, again, to the entire team at Make-A-Wish, Disney, and Give Kids The World Village. Each one gave a blessing to our family.
