The Raney’s Road to Wishes fundraising truck show in Ocala was bigger and brighter this year.

The Walt Disney World specialty license plate just hit a major milestone in raising $5 million for Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. The pixie dusted state plate has helped grant wishes for more than 600 kids with critical illnesses — including Maddie’s, a wish kid from Melbourne who is battling leukemia and wished to spend a day with Disney royalty.

Talk about a need for speed! Florida teen, Andy, was granted a very special wish to ride in a McLaren, and to attend a Formula 1 race in Texas. He was also the 8,000th wish granted by Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida.

Members of Watersound Fountains, an independent living community in Inlet Beach, harnessed their zest for life and passion for helping others to good use this month. The community hosted a “Fashion Show for a Cause,” a fundraising event to support Make-A-Wish® Central and Northern Florida, that featured members of the community as the models.
