A Valentine's Day rappelling event in downtown Tallahassee raised more than $43k for Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida, funding wishes for at least 5 local children

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A first-of-its-kind event for the capital city dared folks to conquer their fear of heights for a great cause. Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida brought their partnership with Over the Edge to Tallahassee for the first time Saturday, hoping to raise $75,000 in the process.

This is your chance to face your fear of heights and have a great time while supporting Make-A-Wish kids.

The Walt Disney World specialty license plate just hit a major milestone in raising $5 million for Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. The pixie dusted state plate has helped grant wishes for more than 600 kids with critical illnesses — including Maddie’s, a wish kid from Melbourne who is battling leukemia and wished to spend a day with Disney royalty.

Talk about a need for speed! Florida teen, Andy, was granted a very special wish to ride in a McLaren, and to attend a Formula 1 race in Texas. He was also the 8,000th wish granted by Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida.

Topgolf’s newest location in Panama City Beach hosted one of its first charity events on Saturday. Make-A-Wish alumni from across Northwest Florida came to meet and brainstorm their next fundraiser.

ORLANDO, Fla. — A teen from Central Florida named Tripp is preparing for a sport fishing adventure in Mexico, made possible by the Make-A-Wish Foundation and local business owners.
