‘My Wish Was the Start of Something’

Ezra is a volunteer firefighter today.
For children battling a critical illness, a wish-come-true can be a turning point in their lives. It can give them the emotional and physical strength to keep going – to fight harder against their illness. Ezra is proof that a wish encourages a child to focus on the possibilities of tomorrow and not on the challenges of today.

Out of the Archives: Super Bowl LII is Payoff After Wish Kid’s Hard Work

Dylan's wish to go to the Super Bowl was granted in 2018.
Dylan’s battle with cancer wasn’t tough only because of treatment. Although he always knew he had a strong chance of beating his illness, he was so often anxiously awaiting test results, making dreaded visits to doctors and specialists and missing out on high school activities he once loved that he felt hopeless. His wish to go to the Super Bowl in 2018 was his “celebration of being done with all of that.”

Volunteering: ‘It’s Simple, But It Stays with You for a Lifetime’

Emily wished to be a mermaid.
For some people, the ocean is a calming influence in times of stress. For wish kid Emily, 13, thoughts of floating lazily in calm, cool waters were often the only thing that would get her through long days in the hospital following one of her four surgeries to remove a large tumor in her brain.

Four Sea Wishes We Couldn't Wait to See

Cade's wish was a sea wish we couldn't wait to see.
Whether wishing to explore the underwater world through the eyes of sharks, fishing in Costa Rica waters, snorkeling over the Great Barrier Reef or even swimming on the Bahamas coast with pigs – yes, pigs – Sea wishes are as unique as the children who wish for them.
