The radio plays the melodies of “Never Say Never” and the squeals of young girls ripple from city to city. This pop sensation has hit the Billboard charts stealing the hearts of girls everywhere who want nothing else but to meet Justin Bieber.
For five-year-old Monroe, Justin’s “I will never say never” lyrics, couldn’t reach more deserving ears as she fights to beat her life-threatening cancer. When Monroe asked Make-A-Wish® volunteers if she could meet the superstar that fills her with giggles of excitement they knew this was a wish they had to grant.
After enduring months of chemotherapy, she was on her way to meet her idol.
Monroe and her family arrive in a limousine to Justin’s concert venue. They are then escorted to the star’s private trailer so Monroe can talk to him one-on-one.
When Justin finally enters the trailer, Monroe becomes so nervous and shy from the anticipation she hides behind her mother. But the singer moves quickly to put her at ease embracing her with a big hug.
The two chat about Justin’s music, their shared passion for L.A. Lakers and the color purple. He presents Monroe and her sister with autographed t-shirts, and signs the sisters’ matching “I met Justin Bieber” hats. Monroe and Justin entertain everyone in the trailer showing off their “model walks” displaying Monroe’s autographed apparel.
But this wasn’t the end of Justin’s gifts to his best fan. He opens a huge triangular box to retrieve a brand-new Gibson guitar – just like the one Justin uses during his shows. He autographs the guitar for Monroe and encourages her to learn how to play.
After a fun time getting to know each other, Justin and Monroe have to part because it’s time for the concert. When he leaves, Monroe remembers something she forgot to tell him and asks his contact person to pass along the message – she wanted to marry him. Yes, Justin will get this wish kid’s message.
Then Monroe and her family sit in upgraded seats as they watch Justin at work during his performance, singing along with the rest of the fans. This is the wish experience Monroe needed to keep her optimistic and rejuvenated for her next round of treatments.
“Thank you! This is the bestest day in my whole life, ever,” Monroe says. “Thank you for my perfect wish.”
