Luke Visits Sea Turtles at the Beach

Wish kid Luke

“… Luke has anxiously awaited the next time he would get to see his favorite animal …”

A distant memory of a visit to Hawaii is what keeps Luke’s spirits high on tough days – but not for the reason you may think. While snorkeling with his family, it was the giant sea turtle they stumbled upon that captivated him.

So when he learns his wish of meeting his favorite animal again is being granted, Luke’s entire demeanor changes to the boy his parents remember before his diagnosis – for now, Luke is back to his former, happy-go-lucky self. It’s a sight his family loves to see.

A Memory Keeps Him Going
It was a memory he would cherish forever when he met his first sea turtle. Luke couldn’t believe his eyes – the massive creature swam through the water as he hovered on the surface, watching through his goggles.

Since then, Luke has anxiously awaited the next time he would get to see his favorite animal – he even had two of them adopted in his name.

But he won’t have to wait much longer, as his next visit to see them is quickly approaching.

Here Come the Turtles…

Swimming through the cool ocean water, it is like Hawaii all over again for Luke. The water is crystal clear as he and his family search for his beloved turtles.

Then he sees it! Just ahead, a giant green turtle is swimming its way through the coral reefs on the sandy bottom.

Luke’s eyes go wide as he watches it swim, and through all his snorkeling gear, he still can’t contain his smile. He and his family float along and follow the turtle as it meets up with another – they watch as the two swim along, right beneath them and around the reef.

Starting Over
Back home, Luke holds his stuffed turtle tight, the closest reminder he has to the memory he’s made in the ocean. It’s a new memory – one much fresher than the last, and his family gets to see that smile they love so much. Their son has returned to his normal, happy life.
