Jesus & Jets' Quarterback Mark Sanchez

“… a wish that turns out to be a big win for everyone.”

Jesus grew up with sports. His first steps were with a soccer ball.

At age 12, the active adolescent began to lose weight and become lethargic.  Doctors diagnosed his condition as acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After two surgeries, weeks in the hospital and an arduous round of chemotherapy, Jesus is back on his feet. During his treatment, he wishes to meet New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The North Carolina teen makes the trip to the Jets training facility, where he signs with the team and receives a locker and personalized jersey. Sanchez teaches Jesus how to run pass patterns just like the pros do and gives the 14-year-old a look inside the Jets’ offense.

It’s a wish that turns out to be a big win for everyone.

Jesus’ wish was one of the 2012 “My Wish” stories on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
