A lion’s roar echoes through the night. Inside his tent, Hugo listens. One by one, the rest of the pride responds. Is Hugo afraid? No. He is ecstatic.
This is adventure. This is elation. This is Namibia
Hugo’s journey began with a diagnosis of leukemia. He fought through it, rallied by the promise of a Make-A-Wish® experience … a wildlife-watching safari in Africa.
Make-A-Wish volunteers created an experience that could change Hugo’s life. They arranged expeditions with expert guides. They spared no detail, left nothing to chance.
But it’s up to Hugo to make the most of his 10-day voyage. And he does, from the moment he receives his boarding pass for 20 hours of intercontinental travel. He discovers the rush of sand boarding down the towering dunes of the Namib Desert. He bonds with a cheetah at a wildlife preserve. His camera captures the sights of the Skeleton Coast and its wild elephants, giraffes and rhinos.
When Hugo returns to his home in New York, he is a different person. He’s a traveler – inquisitive and optimistic.
His trip was a celebration. Hugo and his family said good-bye to his worries about leukemia. They welcomed joy back to their lives.
That’s the true power of a Make-A-Wish experience.
