Thousands Unite For A Wish

“Superhero Saves San Francisco”

On Nov. 15, a new superhero rallied the entire world as he confronted evildoers in San Francisco. Today, Batkid is a symbol of everything that is right and good with the world.

People around the globe now know that Batkid is the alter-ego of Miles, a 5-year-old who is in remission from leukemia. Though Miles is unmasked, everyone who heard his story still stands in awe … and not just for his bravery at overcoming such in implacable foe at such a young age. They also applaud the Make-A-Wish® volunteers and supporters who made his wish possible. They salute the more than 10,000 people in the community who played a role in Miles' wish.

But there's something that every Batkid fan needs to know:

Make-A-Wish does this every single day. Somewhere in the United States, volunteers grant a wish every 38 minutes.

That's great. But we're not ready to applaud ourselves just yet. Because if we're to grant the wish of every eligible child like Miles, we'll need to grant a wish every 19 minutes.

We need people like you to reach that goal – to bring a life-changing experience to all the kids who need to look forward with optimism rather than fear. To break the cycle of medical treatments and stress. To be a game-changer in their struggles to live with, or even overcome, their medical conditions.

These are three important ways you can help:

Donate
– We need air miles and funds to grant wishes. More than 70 percent of Make-A-Wish kids travel as part of their wish, and your air miles are essential. And your cash donations can also provide resources for wish experiences.

Volunteers – We need more people to help grant the wish of every eligible child. And there roles other than wish granters that are vital. If you have fundraising, translation, event planning, photography or clerical talent, you can help us share the power of a wish®.

Refer a Child – We rely on referrals to grant wishes. Find out who is eligible to refer a child. And always remember that we grant last wishes … we offer new beginnings.

We're glad that Batkid brought you to wish.org. We hope that you'll remember the other kids who need wishes – from theme park trips, to puppies, to being a firefighter for a day, to visiting a movie set. And that you'll take your turn to be the hero.

Miles and his family have taken their first step into philanthropy. They’ve established the Batkid Fund – an expression of their appreciation for organizations that stood by their side as Miles vanquished leukemia. One-hundred percent of the funds the Batkid Fund receives will go to the chosen organizations.

Miles is an inspiration! I live in the Bay Area and he has been the talk of the town today. I stopped teaching my second grade class to show them coverage of Miles and his wish. We talked about Make-A-Wish and what you do. These 7 year olds were so excited for him. Thank you for what you do. GO MILES!

Great event! if to think, so little people need to make their dreams come true, and realising wishes of kids - what can be better?
I admire Make-A-Wish, good luck in all your events! One of the greatest ideas of humanity!

At first, I thought this was cute and powerful. It wasn't until the press started politicizing the message that I realized that BatKid can save us all. I will never let him be the poster boy for anything but himself. Sometimes it is seeing a wish granted that makes you remember all the things you wished for and want to grant wishes for others. Thank you BatKid. Thank You Make-A-Wish.
