Beetle Boy Stops the Green Goblin

Michael becomes Beetleboy

“Michael has the courage to thrive through his condition. ”

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s Beetle Boy coming to rescue the city from the Green Goblin.

Dealing with a life-threatening respiratory condition, Michael needed a powerful adventure to prove his strength and courage to combat anything. Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia united an entire city to share the power of a wish® give this six-year-old his superhero wish.

When Michael discovered an unusually large beetle one afternoon at school, his alter ego –Spider Man’s superhero sidekick “Beetle Boy” emerged.

Before he knew it local news reporters called him into action.

Beetle Boy throws on his yellow and red costume equipped with a shell, mask, boots, gloves and antennas and rushes to stop the dastardly Green Goblin. This four-foot tall hero musters all his superpowers to rescue a damsel in distress at the Pittsburgh Zoo, save the Pitt Panther mascot from certain doom, and restore the city's water supply.

He finally captures the Green Goblin outside of the courthouse as his nemesis prepares to destroy the building. Thanks to Beetle Boy, Pittsburgh is safe and peaceful once again.

Hundreds cheer him on as the Mayor presents Pittsburgh's favorite superhero with a key to the city and declares the day "Beetle Boy Day."

Spider-Man – who heard all the excitement- returns from his vacation early to congratulate Beetle Boy and promote him to a full-fledged superhero.

The residents of Pittsburgh rest easy, knowing that their city is protected by a 6-year-old crime fighter.

And Michael has the confidence to thrive through his medical condition and look forward to life’s possibilities.

Hi Michael, I LOVE the Make-A-Wish Foundation's TV commercial sharing your story! It makes me smile every time it comes on (and they show it pretty regularly in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton TV market area). YOU ARE a very special young man and should be very proud such an important cause has used YOU to spread the word about their cause. I hope you are doing well, and I wish you and your family a very happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year to come in 2008.

Michael, you are my hero even if you don't save lives. You have gave me a new prespective on life. You became my hero because you fought the biggest villian of all! I look up to you and I know many do. Thank you for being my hero.
