Jasmine Cares for a Newborn Baby

Jasmine becomes a newborn nurse

“Jasmine’s eyes shine with the hope for her amazing nursing career ahead”

Jasmine holds a newborn baby admiring the sweet sounds and smells of new life. Her name badge says “Jasmine –Future RN.” Her wish has been granted.

Twelve-year-old Jasmine, diagnosed with a rare life-threatening autoimmune disorder, was in need of a true moment of joy to keep her strong and keep her fighting.

Volunteers from Make-A-Wish® Utah informed Jasmine she would definitely travel to McKay-Dee Hospital Center to be a nurse for a day. But what they didn’t say was how she was getting there.

So Jasmine is awestruck when a LifeFlight helicopter picks her up at her house and delivers her at the hospital. She then greets the nurse manager of the newborn intensive care unit (NICU), who gives her a teddy bear, a basket of gifts from other nurses, and a card. The basket has a statue of a nurse holding a baby and a holiday tree ornament with engraved baby footprint. She also receives her own baby stethoscope and blood pressure cuff to equip her for the job.

Ready to go it’s time to get into uniform. Jasmine puts on her own set of scrubs and gown and her name tag. She washes her hands – like any good nurse- and heads to NICU.

Here this wish kid observes several procedures to care for and clean the infants.

When she finally holds the little bundle of joy, she rocks it softly proclaiming she’s having “so much fun.”

Jasmine’s eyes shine with the hope for her amazing nursing career ahead.

I think that it is wonderful that she wants to be a nurse or doctor of something that has to do with little babies

We need people like Jasmine who love people to work in the RN field. I hope one day if I'm sick that Jasmine or someone like her is taking care of me. I have a rare disease that is terminal and I hope that someone as loving as Jasmine is there for my end of life.

Your wish touched my heart as my sweet little nephew was just released from the NICU a few days ago. I am grateful to the NICU nurses and I can tell by the nature of your wish that you are a loving, compassionate young woman who will make a wonderful nurse and mother someday. Keep strong and fight hard for your dream!

What an AMAZING little girl, not asking for superficial gifts or the common family vacation but to give back to the community and be greatful and enjoy every moment.
God Bless!!!
