“It was his first glimpse of a care-free life. ”

For Mike and Ginia, Make-A-Wish® was a way to help others. They had granted wishes together, and she had served as an Iowa chapter board member.

hen, their son Cole was born after they moved to California. Three days later later, he was diagnosed with Hirschprung’s disease. As he grew, Cole spent much of his time in hospitals. He entertained himself by watching an animated cowboy’s adventures. Doctors told Mike and Ginia it was his way to cope with his illness.

Make-A-Wish was already part of the family’s lives. But Mike and Ginia would soon discover first-hand what a wish experience can do for a family that’s exhausted and dispirited. Cole wished to be a cowboy … and to roast marshmallows.

Cole’s wish came true at the Circle B Ranch. He spent five days riding the trails with his 7-year-old brother, Kyle. He learned to lasso – and how to smile bigger than he ever had before It was his first glimpse of a care-free life. He rode into the sunset full of the world’s possibilities. The only thing Cole had on his mind?  The next ride on his favorite horse.
