Volunteering: The Backbone of Wish Granting

South Carolina, Hugh O'Neill, Indomitable Spirit, Volunteers, Peter, Piano
In granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions, Make-A-Wish® is thankful for the generosity of donors and medical professionals who support our vision to make every eligible child’s wish come true. One invaluable area of generosity that we rely on annually is the amount of time, attention and dedication more than 25,000 volunteers give to fulfill our mission. These are the individuals who do the legwork to make each child’s wish come true.

My Make-A-Wish Anniversary

Lindsay and Veronica during her treatment
My two-year anniversary at Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington falls right around Thanksgiving. Inevitably, this milestone makes me reflect on how thankful I am to be part of an organization I care so much about. Because my journey with Make-A-Wish actually began more than 10 years ago, when my friend Veronica was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. We were both in seventh grade.
