Four Sea Wishes We Couldn't Wait to See

Cade's wish was a sea wish we couldn't wait to see.
Whether wishing to explore the underwater world through the eyes of sharks, fishing in Costa Rica waters, snorkeling over the Great Barrier Reef or even swimming on the Bahamas coast with pigs – yes, pigs – Sea wishes are as unique as the children who wish for them.

During the month of August, we have been celebrating some incredible wishes of Land, Air and, today, Sea – all requiring trips near and far that truly transform wish kids and their families. Here are four sea wishes that we couldn’t wait to see come true.

  • Cade’s wish to go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef: As Cade (pictured above) zipped up his wet suit, he was full of anticipation. Jumping into the water, he took a look around and couldn’t believe his eyes. He was snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef! As he explored his surroundings, the stress and worry of leukemia melted away. When Cade, 14, was diagnosed, “The world stopped for us. Suddenly nothing else mattered but the health and well-being of our child,” said Christi, Cade’s mom. Once Cade made his wish, though, the thought of it not only made his chemotherapy treatments easier, but he found the hope and happiness he needed. Cade said, “This trip was something I will remember for the rest of my life.” Cade’s wish was granted by Make-A-Wish Minnesota.
Mason's wish was a sea wish we couldn't wait to see.
  • Mason’s wish to have a shark experience: Mason refuses to let his nervous system disorder get in the way of his interests. The 9-year-old adores the ocean and all of its sea creatures, especially sharks. He celebrated his birthday with a shark experience on the beach. Mason’s wish allowed his family a temporary break from dealing with his illness and gave them time to spend together while Mason just enjoyed being a kid. Mason’s sister, Madelyn, said it was “phenomenal seeing him swim with sharks.” Mason’s wish was granted by Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.
Jeremiah's wish was a sea wish we couldn't wait to see.
  • Jeremiah’s wish to swim with pigs in the Bahamas: Jeremiah’s wish was inspired by one of his favorite YouTube stars. FUNnel Vision, a family of six, goes on crazy travel adventures around the world, including bungee jumping, water parks, and much more, and publishes videos from their trips. Once Jeremiah saw their video where they went to the Bahamas, the 10-year-old knew what he wanted to wish for. After going through chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments for cancer, swimming with the pigs in the Bahamas was the perfect experience for him and his family. The pigs in Exuma, Bahamas, are world-famous for snorting and swimming in the crystal blue waters with tourists on “Pig Beach.” Jeremiah’s fun with the pigs started once they hit the sand, where Jeremiah was able to swim with and feed them. Jeremiah’s wish was granted by Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles.
Ethan's wish was a sea wish we couldn't wait to see.
  • Ethan’s wish to go fishing in Costa Rica: Stepping aboard a fishing charter, Ethan was thrilled to cast his first line. “We had an amazing time,” Ethan’s mom said. “We can never thank Make-A-Wish enough. The fishing was perfect. Ethan was so happy! And after all that Ethan, 14, has endured in his fight against cystic fibrosis, he was able to create many new, positive memories during “such a great week.” Ethan’s wish was granted by Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia.
