A strange reflection in Jillian's right eye was the first warning sign. Once the eye began to wander, her parents decided to take her to the doctor. After a series of appointments culminating in a visit to the Mayo Clinic, they learned that Jillian had a rare type of eye cancer in both eyes.
Specialized chemotherapy treatment targeting the tumors in her eyes was successful. And though she is almost legally blind in her right eye, her condition is stable.
Jillian's mom referred her for a wish after a social worker suggested she might be eligible. That's when the search for a Pomsky puppy began. With help from Skywatcher Kennel, volunteers surprised Jillian with a 14-week-old Pomeranian/Husky mix puppy.
For wish kids, new pets are a connection to a typical life. From golden retrievers to yorkies, puppies always bring a smile to their face.
