I met and interviewed many law officers during my time as a journalist. The very best of them had something in common: They treated their badge as a symbol of responsibility and community service. They approach their work with a gravity that transforms it from a career to a calling.
That’s something they have in common with J’Len, a 4-year-old from the Virgin Islands who wished to be a police officer like his father. In the video below, you can tell that J’Len has great police role models to emulate.
And you’ll also see how his wish affected people in his community. It took dozens of people to make his wish come true. Many who participated share their thoughts in the video – and I’m convinced that their encounter with J’Len made them realize the importance of stepping forward to help their friends and neighbors.
