Vista Academy, San Diego

One seed of kindness blossomed into a playground full of wishes. It all started when twin sisters Megan and Kaitlyn opted to turn their birthday presents into Make-A-Wish® donations and raised more than $2,400. Their mother, Beth, is a teacher at The Vista Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, and she was so inspired by her daughters' gesture that she challenged her students to raise $15,000 in one week.

After months of planning with the school and the community, the Vista Academy students rallied together to grant the wish for 8-year-old Ryan and his family to go on a Disney cruise. To celebrate its success, Vista Academy escorted Ryan and his family in a limo to its Friday-morning playground rally and presented Make-A-Wish® with a surprising check for $21,800. The school students were so excited to meet Ryan and his family and felt privileged to help share the power of a wish®.
