You could feel the excitement in the air the day that Lewisburg Elementary School students in Olive Branch, Miss., were poised and ready to surprise wish child Cazarae with the big news that his wish to go on a shopping spree was coming true!
All through his cancer treatments, Cazarae had shared his love and support of his home football team, the South Panola Tigers! The epitome of a true fan, he had attended every game he could, cheering from the side lines until weather and his health prevented him from being there.
The Lewisburg school family not only raised the funds to sponsor his wish, but also arranged to have the entire team present for the big reveal of the news. The team actually drove 40 miles for this special occasion.
Cazarae thought he was at the school to collect toys for Make-A-Wish® Mid-South, but in reality all the toys were for him! Every student not only got to meet the recipient of their contribution, but also was present when a marching band and the championship team entered the room, granting this courageous child’s long-awaited wish.
Cazarae experienced a day he would never forget in the company of friends he never knew he had. He even was presented with the actual football used in the state championship game and a signed jersey.
