Madison Firefighters Hockey Club will host its fourth annual Mad City Fire on Ice hockey tournament at the Madison Ice Arena May 1, 2 & 3 to benefit Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin. Admission is free and open to the public; all ages are welcome to attend.
Spectators will experience: dozens of games of competitive hockey; a half-rink charity shot competition for a chance to win $10,000; free open skating hour with local celebrities and special guests; the Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company Beer Garden; raffles and silent auctions for valuable prizes like Badger football tickets, Kalahari Resort and Waterpark 2-night package, Pacific bike, Sundara Spa overnight and spa package and great items; delicious food and beverages at the concession stand and more.
All events will take place at 725 Forward Drive in Madison. Games run from 4:30 to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1st; 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd; and 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3rd. Local wish kids and their families will make special appearances at a ceremony on Friday at 7:30 p.m. "Skate with the Celebrities" hour will be held on Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. Admission and skate rental is free for kids and families until 2:30 p.m. The half-rink shot competition will be held at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.
"This event will sponsor the wish of a special teen named Brady of Waunakee who is living with a congenital heart defect. His wish to go on a Caribbean cruise will come true next spring," said Nicole Williams, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Madison Regional Director. "We invite the entire community to come out and help us make this a very successful weekend. There's something for everyone in the family to enjoy!"
Ten teams of firefighters from Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota will face-off for three days of exciting hockey action, culminating in the championship game on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. For a full list of teams and game times, visit: www.madisonfirehockey.com.
