Q: Why did you choose this wish?

A: I chose this wish because I wanted to have a princess birthday party. When I was 6, I loved reading stories about princesses and unicorns, so I thought that I would be fun to have a princess birthday party with my friends.

Taylor enjoyed her princess birthday party at a real castle with all of her friends and family.

Q: What was one of your favorite memories from the wish?

A: My favorite memory from this wish was when the magician did magic tricks at the party. I remember that he was doing a "shooting the card game" where the prince was shooting a fake gun at cards that had letters on them. He told me to think of a letter, and then when the prince shot the card, the next card had the letter that I was thinking of. I also remember that he had a cooking pot and put some fake foam carrots in the pot. Then the magician had me tap the pot with a magic wand and the lid started to move! When he took off the cover, the fake carrots were gone and there was a real bunny inside the pot! The birthday cake was amazing! It was a large, three-dimensional castle cake with tons of sugar cubes lined around it and frosting everywhere.

Q: What's your medical diagnosis now?

A: I had my heart transplant surgery about seven years ago at Hartford Hospital. I wasn't able to do too much after that for a couple of years. Now, I can do almost anything that I want to. I still have some restrictions, (I can't weight lift, run too much, or do rough games) but I can do some sports.

Q: What are some of the highlights of your life now?

A: Right now, what I love to do is horseback riding. I love to go hang out at the horse farm when it's nice out and ride Shanequa. I am also proud to be taking an advanced math class in school. I am taking ninth grade high school Algebra I in eigth grade.

Today, Taylor is excelling in school and loves to go horseback riding in her free time.

Q: What did your wish mean to you?

A: At the time, my wish gave me hope. I was going through a tough time with taking all of my medicine and hospital check-ups, so having a princess birthday party with my friends and family gave me something to look forward to. My parents also told me that after I had my wish, I began getting better a lot faster.

Q: What do you want to tell people about the Make-A-Wish Foundation?

A: The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a great and amazing organization. They have so many Make-A-Wish events that you can go to all over the place, where you can talk and play games with other wish families. Make-A-Wish gives people who have had medical difficulties hope for something good. Having a wish come true makes you very happy and forget about what's going on for a little.
