“ I wished to go on a Caribbean cruise with my family and best friend ”
Q: Why did you choose this wish?
A: I wanted my family to have a vacation as well because it was something we all experienced, and I felt they deserved it for being so supportive and strong.
Q: What was one of your favorite memories from the wish?
A: My favorite part of this trip was when we went to the waterfalls in Jamaica and all hiked up them holding hands. The scenery was so beautiful and everyone had smiles on their faces. It was the state of ultimate happiness.
Q: What’s your medical diagnosis now?
A: After a bone marrow transplant, full-body radiation and several chemo treatments, I am in remission. I have been in remission for about 6.5 years.
Q: What are some of the highlights of your life now?
A: I am currently a senior at the University of Arizona studying biology with a Spanish and chemistry minor. I will be graduating in May 2008 and want to continue on to medical school.
Q: What did your wish mean to you?
A: My wish inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I want to become a pediatric oncologist after experiencing being diagnosed with leukemia and making my home the hospital for the few months I was there.
Q: What do you want to tell people about the Make-A-Wish Foundation?
A: It truly does save lives. When a child hears they will be granted the wish they’ve always dreamed of their spirits are lifted and they no longer think of their illness. I know that saved my life.
