Twelve-year-old Terry has NASCAR hats, NASCAR backpacks, NASCAR Hot Wheels, a Jeff Gordon jacket, and walls of Jeff Gordon posters. What could a racing fan like Terry wish for? He asked wish granters from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin to help him meet NASCAR superstar driver Jeff Gordon.
Terry got his chance in Brooklyn, Mich. With sponsorship from UAW-GM, wish granters arranged for Terry, mom Holly, dad Terry Sr., brother Benjamin, sister Michelle, and grandma Eunice to travel to Michigan International Speedway for the Sirius Satellite Radio 400.
The highlight of the five-day experience came when Terry rode with Jeff Gordon in his Chevrolet Camaro for the race's introductory lap. The family also collected autographs from the drivers, toured the pits, and watched an ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America) race.
In addition to auto racing, Terry also enjoys other outdoor sports. He fishes at his grandmother's lake for bass, but is happy with bluegills too. In his free time, he hangs out with friends and plays video games.
