The world of boxing is filled with bright lights, hard-hitting excitement, and larger-than-life athletes. So it’s no wonder that when volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire asked 14-year-old Joseph what his one true wish was, he chose to meet his favorite boxer, "Sugar" Shane Mosley.

Wish granters arranged for Joseph to meet with Mosley during his World Boxing Council welterweight title defense in Las Vegas. In addition to the actual fight, Mosley had much to do during the event and Joseph was with him most of the way.

The day before Mosley’s bout with challenger Adrian Stone, the champ had to weigh in. Joseph was there to watch the scale register 147 pounds. Later that evening, Mosley’s family, Joseph, and Joseph’s father went out for a long dinner together. The group traded laughs most of the night, but "Sugar" Shane had a sweet treat for Joseph. After dinner, Mosley invited Joseph to his suite for autographed presents including boxing gloves, a robe, trunks, posters, and worn boxing shoes.

Finally, the big day came. "Sugar" Shane was ready to defend his belt. Joseph and his father took their seats only a few rows from the ring. Perhaps Joseph was good luck because Mosley made quick work of 20-1 underdog Adrian Stone, knocking him out in the third round of the title fight. In the end, the champ kept his World Boxing Council welterweight belt and his biggest fan.
