Twelve-year-old Aaron plans to play professional football for "America's Team," the Dallas Cowboys. He dreams of lacing up his spikes and pulling down his shoulder pads for the legions of Cowboys fans worldwide. So it came as no surprise when Aaron chose to meet his favorite team when presented with a wish by volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Kansas.
The young football fan had been practicing with his mom and sister, but wish granters set him up with a more experienced mentor. Aaron got to meet and pass the pigskin with Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman at Valley Ranch, the Cowboys' practice facility. Aaron later exclaimed, "Troy is a cool guy!"
Our special sports fan also attended a game at Texas Stadium, home of the five-time Super Bowl champions. While there, he was the envy of many in attendance as he got to meet the Dallas Cowboys' cheerleaders. One cheerleader even presented Aaron with a rose.
Aaron had seen his favorite team up close and none of the magic had faded. With practice, determination, and a little luck, we may someday see Aaron's name placed alongside famous Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famers like Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, and coach Tom Landry.
