Fourteen-year-old Christopher wished for a laptop computer from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® , but he received so much more. Wish granters knew he had a fascination with the U.S. Marine Corps, so they arranged for Christopher's computer to be hand delivered by his heroes – two Marines.
The generous Marines also brought an entire official uniform, which Christopher changed into immediately. The computer was left at the house while the new soldier and his family rode in a Humvee with his comrades. Later, Christopher and his family received a tour of the Broadhead Armory. While there, he was presented with a certificate and sworn in as an honorary Marine for the day.
Unbeknownst to Christopher, volunteers were back at his house, setting up the computer, assembling a new desk and chair and orchestrating a celebration party. After Christopher's momentous day at the Marine training facility, his fellow soldiers drove him home – in the Humvee, of course. The excited teen raced upstairs to look at his computer, which was already programmed and sitting on his desk. His day as a Marine had ended, but many fun days with his special computer were ahead.
